Step away from the can...

We can hear the clanging of silver ware to plates even now with Turkey Day less than 48 hours away. And just as common as the clanging of silver will be the sound of the electronic can opener all over America. And wiggling its way out of the can will be the infamous cranberry cylinder. Chop it up as much as you like, its still canned, and gross.

With the mounds of info we all have access to you would think we would all just suck it up and make some cranberry sauce from well...cranberries...imagine that.  But as surely as there is someone that is excited about this, there is one equally terrified. And its ok just know that it takes no time and is truly simple. It's also a phenomenal way to introduce some wow ingredients to your guests, like alcohol.

Well that's what we did with our Whiskey Citrus Cranberry Sauce. These three ingredients are born to blend. Hello Madras!(I know that's vodka but work with me here.) So here's the recipe check it out, try it out, and dish it out.

Happy Holidays to everyone and don't forget to tell a friend about us!

Whiskey Citrus Cranberry Sauce

1-12oz bag of fresh cranberries
Fresh squeezed Orange Juice to cover
1 cup packed brown sugar
2- cinnamon sticks
zest of an orange
1/2 cup of your favorite whiskey

Combine all ingredients in a large sauce pan except the orange zest and place over medium high heat.
Stir every few minutes, while also skimming the excess bubbles(scum)
Continue to simmer until cranberries burst and sauce naturally thickens.
Fish out the two cinnamon sticks and add the orange zest.
Transfer into a serving bowl and enjoy.
NOTE: You can really make this sauce as sweet or as tart as you like by adjusting the amount of sugar you use.  Other variations include using apple juice instead of orange.  A bit sweeter, but still works great!  Also, you can leave out the whiskey and it will still be delicious.
